April 2020 (ROTM#136) National Geographic Rip Current Documentary 'Rip Current Heroes'

Beaches around the world, including Bondi Beach in Australia, are now closed due to COVID19 social distancing measures. It's been such a surreal time for everyone and while there's nothing good about the COVID19 situation anywhere, if you are a parent with kids at home who are looking for something to do - this could be a good opportunity to teach them about rip currents.

Several years ago, documentary producer Jason Markland made 'Rip Current Heroes' for National Geographic. It's a full length documentary that is extremely powerful and educational. It’s been shown on Qantas and Jetstar’s in-flight entertainment. There's also a website with extra material including a link to a study guide for students. That should keep the kids busy for a while....and everyone can learn from watching it!
