September 2022 (ROTM#165) 4X Beer Movie Commercial, Australia

Last year the NSW Government gave everyone a lot of free entertainment vouchers to use post-Covid to get people out and about again – and spending money. My family forgot to use ours until the last minute and went on a movie spree. While watching the commercials before the latest Jurassic Park movie one stood out because it was about 4X beer (big Queensland beer) and took place on a beach with a rip current in the background! I tried to take a picture with my phone, but missed it. Two days later we went to see Top Gun: Maverick and I got the shot!

It's not a big rip, but that small dark line in the surf behind all the people is a nice little channelised rip. There’s a much bigger one in the distance. I have no idea what beach it is, but I’m guessing it’s in….Queensland?. Maybe let’s not promote drinking on the beach eh?

I’ve always thought that movie cinemas are a great opportunity to educate people about rips and beach safety – what a wasted opportunity!  What an interesting range of clothing these people are wearing. Is it a snapshot of Queenslanders?

Everyone watching Top Gun: Maverick could have been taught how to spot a rip
